We’re almost sold out of the paperback edition of Xenozoic by Mark Schultz. We are printing more copies for our distributor to restock the book stores. More copies are coming later this year.
We have just a few boxes left direct from our Flesk website, including some of the hardcover signed copies.

Coming soon! Al Williamson: Strange World Adventures, Carbon 4 and Xenozoic by Mark Schultz! Our printer samples arrived and the books look beautiful! These three titles are at the Hong Kong port waiting for a vessel to become available. The ports are currently jammed. Just as soon as we have a confirmed booking I will post an update with the arrival time at our Flesk warehouse.
We’ve been incredibly busy here since the campaign ended last month. I’d like to give you an update on each of the four books.
1. The Al Williamson and Mark Schultz Astounding Sketchbook
This bonus item is done and at the printer! We filled up this 16 page
sketchbook with never before published sketches and preliminaries by Al
and Mark. It sure was a lot of fun to dig through material to use for
this.
This book is done and at the printer! I worked closely with Mark over
the last few months to select art for this collection. As always, Mark
is a joy to work with and we are very proud with how this new collection
came out. Mark decided at the last minute to draw a few new pieces that
will be revealed once the book is shipped to you.
This book is done and at the printer. We’re very excited to bring the classic Xenozoic Tales collection back in print in this new format. We poured over every detail and are happy to have this coming out soon.
The artwork selection, the writing, and the preliminary designs are
all done. At this time, I am focused full time on tightening up the
designs, then will focus on the finished designs, followed by the final
proofing. We were able to pull together a beautiful selection of Al’s
artwork that spans his entire career. I expect to have it done in the
next couple of weeks. I ended up doing far more writing for the book
than I initially intended, which added a few weeks to the production
time, but I feel it was well worth the effort.
I’ll let you all know right when the Al Williamson book is done!
Thank you so much for your support to make these books a reality.

I’ve been working regularly with Mark Schultz since 2004. His first book that I published was Various DrawingsVolume One in 2005. This book was the fourth that I published and the first on a living artist. Since then we have kept in contact weekly and managed to put out quite a library on Mark’s work. There has been Various Drawings Volume 1-5, Blue Book, Storms at Sea, Xenozoic, and the Carbon series. This month we are releasing Carbon 3. Somehow, we’ve managed to publish eleven books in the last 13 years. I’m not quite sure how we’ve done it. Especially considering how slow Mark works.
Each collection of Various Drawings and Carbon has collected the previous year and a half to two years’ worth of art that Mark has made for private commissions and illustration assignments. This latest volume of Carbon follows the same trend. Carbon 3 has a forward by Mark where he touches upon his preparatory stages of creating the new Xenozoic story. Inside you will find several personal works of Jack and Hannah, the main characters from Xenozoic, along with other noteworthy pieces.
It’s always a pleasure to work with Mark. It’s no secret that he’s a great guy. We bounce ideas back and forth and quickly ease into a design, theme or layout with each book. There is nothing difficult about the process. We typically talk on the phone for 2-3 hour sessions while working. It never seems like work, and I’m always surprised at how quickly the book comes together. I suppose we have been working together for so long that I intuitively know what Mark likes, yet I also appreciate that he lets me experiment. We usually end up doing something that neither of us thought of alone. And we’re pretty darn happy with the outcome.
I felt the cover painting came out especially well. Mark put a lot of effort into trying a new approach. It’s a method that he will be revisiting at some point in the future.
The hardcover signed edition is already sold out. But, the Carbon 3 paperback is here and in stock for immediate shipping.
Here’s the link to learn more about the book and to order.
I had the chance to show these to Mark before he flew back home after San Diego Comic-Con. We’re both thrilled with how well they turned out!
The extra bit of good news is that the printer was able to get these done in time to ship with Jeffrey Alan Love’s The Thousand Demon Tree book. Both are scheduled to arrive at our Flesk warehouse on August 25th. We’ll ship the Kickstarter orders and the Flesk online store pre-orders as soon as they arrive. If you pledged for both Jeff and Mark’s books we will ship them together.
Around August 14th we will send out an update that will give you a chance to include more Schultz books with your order.
I had the chance to visit Mark Schultz in his studio on August 8th. Here’s proof that Mark has been working on his new Xenozoic story. The release date will be determined once he has finished the art and story. I’m guessing the book will come out in sometime in 2019.
